A Collection of Cowls

In this class, we’ll work through three distinctive cowls that can be worked up in no time! We’ll make a lace leaf pullover, a textured side-buttoned collar, and a simple open work moebius. Each cowl demonstrates a different technique and all are great for gifts or for yourself. Beading options for each will be shown but are optional.

A solid color will enhance the beautiful stitch pattern.  For bulky yarns 16 inch circular US 8 needles or to gauge (30 stitches = 6 inches or 32 rows = 6.25 inches in pattern). For worsted weight yarns use 16 inch circular size US 6 or 7 needles and prepare a swatch of 4 repeats for class.
  • Smooth sport weight cotton yarn for life line.

Basic Moebius Cowl :

  • Valley Yarns Enfield 2 hanks (124 yards) or other chunky yarn. Variegated or hand dyed will work well here in this pattern.
  • 47 inch circular needles size US 10

  • Prior to the first class: Using the yarn you choose for the Side Button Cowl, knit a swatch to be sure you are getting gauge.  Begin with a US 6 needle and change needle sizes until you achieve the following gauge: 20 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch unwashed, unblocked
