Learn how to use gauge, stitch pattern repeats, and desired measurements to design your own knitted cowl. We will play with design concepts such as charting a written stitch pattern and converting a flat stitch pattern to working in the round. Participants will choose an inspiring stitch pattern and take it from paper to a wearable accessory. This class is for the adventurous knitter. Please be comfortable with knitting in the round and reading knitting patterns.
Prerequisite: Knitting II, or equivalent
Instructor: Katie Carr
Date: Thursdays - 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16; 2014
Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pm
When possible, please buy your materials from WEBS.
Look through the stitch patterns in A Treasury of Knitting Patterns, Chapters 2-9 and 11-12. Choose a few that you would like to try swatching for your cowl. If you have already purchased yarn, be sure to consider how the yarn you have selected will work up in the stitch patterns you select. Yarn for your cowl can be purchased during the first class if you would like your instructor's input into your yarn selection.
