This workshop teaches all the key skills for assembling and finishing your knitting projects: seaming (including grafting), picking up stitches for necklines, weaving in ends, and the advantages and disadvantages of various cast-off techniques. The focus is on making finishing as quick and painless as possible, and to that end, students will learn all the cheats and shortcuts! Techniques covered include seaming (mattress stitch, invisible horizontal and vertical - to - horizontal for setting in sleeves), 3-needle bind-off and grafting; picking up stitches, weaving in ends, and joining new yarn; blocking; how to modify patterns to reduce finishing, and how to reduce your knitting stress.

Prior to class, using size 7 needles (or size to get your gauge), cast on enough stitches to make a 4-inch gauge swatch in stockinette; make 2 of these.
