A second section has been added here.

Have you ever admired a sweater with Aran or Gansey patterning? How about a breathtaking lace shawl?  These beautiful designs are created with textural techniques that look complicated but are easy to learn. In this four-workshop class, you will work through chart reading and symbolcraft as well as many knit and purl stitch patterns, cables, bobbles, lace, and twisted-stitch designs.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Instructor: Erin Holman
Date: Wednesdays, 9/25, 10/23, 11/20, 12/18, 2013
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Materials Required:

  • Several skeins of smooth, light-colored, worsted weight yarn. If you have any suitable yarn in your stash, by all means use it. You will be making 12 large swatches. To be safe, plan on about 90 yards for each swatch.
  • Straight or circular needles in a variety of sizes; for some swatches you might need needles smaller than suggested by the yarn and for others you might need needles larger than suggested.
  • Magnetic board (8 X 10) with magnetic ruler (stands are also available) or highlighter tape
  • Cable needle
  • A pencil
  • Your Knitting Tool Kit
  • The squares knit in this class could be a great start for a blanket, so you may want to think about that when choosing your yarn; however, this class will not go over joining squares.
