Fabulous Felted Scarves

Explore an ancient textile form using a contemporary twist with traditional felt maker, Sue McFarland. Using colorful roving embellished with your choice of wool yarns, this class will teach you basic felting techniques to create an artful scarf -- a perfect gift for a special friend, or for yourself!

Materials Required:

  • A skein of Malabrigo Nube or Frabjous Fibers Hand-Dyed Merino Top or 2.5 ounces of Ashland Bay Multicolor Merino fiber (purchase roving in one continuous piece)  
  • 20-25 yards of a single- or loosely-plied bulky yarn such as Berkshire Bulky (fiber content must be 70% wool or more)  
  • 6-ounce yogurt cup (for soap)  Sponge or two  
  • Old towel  
  • Plastic bag or tupperware to transport your scarf home  
  • Apron (optional, in case you splash a little water on yourself!)
