This class will be an exploration of the world of unique handspun “art yarns.” We will learn about color theory, fiber blending and yarn design, and the technical spinning and plying techniques that will enable you to create supercoiled yarns, chain-plied and boucle yarns and more. Students must be comfortable spinning a consistent, continuous yarn of various weights. Techniques for both the drop spindle and the spinning wheel will be covered; being comfortable with both tools is recommended. Prerequisite: Spinning with a Drop Spindle or on a Wheel - Introduction, or equivalent Instructor: Ashley Flagg Date: Sunday, 1/27 Time: 10:30am - 4:30pm Materials Required: Please purchase all materials prior to class as the store is closed on the date of class. - Students should bring their own wheel in good working condition and a large whorl drop spindle (3-4 in.)
