Dyeing for Spinners
Love to spin? Learn to dye! Dyeing your own fibers adds a new level of excitement and creativity to crafting your own yarns. Since colored fibers become blended in the spinning process, the considerations for dyeing handspinning fiber are slightly different than dyeing yarn. Learn how color choice, placement and method of application affect yarn design. The class covers several fun techniques using different types of protein fibers, with an emphasis on low-impact use of dyes and ways to minimize waste of materials. Tips will be given for spinning the fibers we dye in class. This class is open to spinners of all skill levels. No previous dyeing experience is necessary.

Materials Cost: $50.00 payable to instructor.
Materials Required:
• Apron/wear old clothes
• Comfortable rubber gloves
• Safety glasses
• 6 gallon size zip-loc plastic bags
• Please bring your lunch.
