Spinning, Dyeing & Felting
Introduction to Handspinning
Learn to spin your own yarn by hand in a supportive group environment. Over the course of the weekend, we will focus on gaining proficiency with the spinning wheel. Previous experience with drop spindle spinning is helpful but not necessary. The weekend will also include a historical overview of the wheel and its parts, fiber types, preparation and drafting, and different spinning and plying techniques. Participants wishing to bring their own wheel must be sure it is in excellent working condition; wheels will be available for class use. By the end of the weekend you’ll be much closer to designing your own yarns!
