Dorothy T. Ratigan's career in fiber arts spans more than forty years, and in that time she's done it all. From Bargello to beadwork, crewelwork, crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, knitting, needlepoint, tatting and weaving, Dorothy has designed, stitched, edited and taught it all.
This adventure with needlework began with the skills that her mother, Peg, and her aunts, Nell and Delia, brought from Ireland and passed on to her. Dorothy has designed or edited for many major fiber magazines, craft book publishers and yarn companies. As president and co-owner of Pine Tree Knitters, she designed knitted skiwear, oversaw a production staff and marketed finished items to L.L. Bean, Eddie Bauer and others.
Dorothy got to the bottom of her love of fiber with her recently published Knitting the Perfect Pair: Secrets to Great Socks (Krause Publications). Publication of Knitting Know-How fulfills her long-held desire to share what she's learned from and with the knitting world.
