Paula discovered weaving during a fiber arts class in college, but her interest in fiber arts took a back seat while she pursued an interest in clay. Upon receiving an M.F.A. from Southern Illinois University, Paula moved back to the Pioneer Valley to pursue her love of teaching. In 1999 she became a clay instructor at the Austen Riggs Center. She began to explore weaving again during her early years there. She became intrigued by the wonders of color, texture and pattern in weaving and pursued projects at home on the Rigid Heddle Flip Loom.
In 2008 Paula became the fiber arts instructor at ARC. She has a passion for knitting, crochet, felting, and sewing as well as weaving. Her home studio is awash in color and texture, projects in the works and materials to be explored. She is currently exploring ideas for weaving bags, accessories, blankets, pillows and other useful things.
Paula lives in the lovely village of Florence, MA with her cat Uma and partner David where she enjoys going for walks in the woods and riding her bike on the rail trail here in the valley.
