Chenille is the ultimate luxury fiber! It has a beautiful sheen, a luxurious softness and drape, it shows off color beautifully, and the rumors are all wrong! It can be easy to work with if you just know a few small tricks.
In this class, we will learn everything you need to know to weave great chenille scarves. We will discuss chenille properties, sett and beat, what makes it great to work with, what makes it challenging and how to overcome those challenges. We will talk about color designing, use of novelty yarns and finishing techniques. Participants will design a warp and set up a loom to weave two scarves, plus samples. Most of the actual weaving and finishing work will be completed at home.
Participants will need to bring their own looms with an 8 dent reed (see homework below).
Prerequisite: Able to dress loom independently
Date: 10/19 and 10/20
Time: 10am - 5pm Saturday and 9am-4pm Sunday
Please label everything you bring with your name.
