This series of four monthly workshops introduces newer weavers to four major weave structures or techniques that are effective on four-harness looms: huck lace, overshot, finger-manipulated laces, and summer & winter. Each session will be dedicated to exploring one of these structures, and will include a detailed introduction plus weaving instructions to make 1-2 small projects. The projects will be woven in the intervening weeks between workshop sessions. Completed projects will be reviewed at the beginning of the next workshop, and problems and successes will be discussed.
This class is intended for weavers who have completed a beginning weaving class, who understand basic drafting, and who can independently wind a warp, dress a loom, and weave 1-2 small projects during the three weeks between workshops. Looms will not be needed during the workshop sessions. However, participants must have access to a good-quality loom at home.
