    Noro Kureyon

Noro Kureyon is the original striping yarn. It is incredibly popular year after year and we can see why! Each skein of Noro Kureyon is a multitude of natural colors and no two projects will look exactly alike. This beautiful yarn is just waiting to be knit.  Made in Japan.

I knitted a pair of mittens with this yarn. The first mitten worked out beautifully. When I looked at the second skein of yarn, they were the same color number and same dye lot but the colors were not the same. I really had to work to make both mittens look similar. I had to start and stop with different sections of yarn and still they are very noticeably different. It was a last minute purchase to make for my daughter for Christmas with no time to return the yarn. I was very disappointed. It suprised me that someone who put the yarn in the bag couldn't see the difference between the two skeins and try to find a better match.

      Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I started making a cowl in a knit/purl pattern with a different yarn from another company. It turned out beautifully and I was out of town and went to the local yarn store to get more. They did not have that yarn but they carried this which was similar. I loved it. It was "rougher" in look (not feel) and i made the cowl slightly bigger than in the other more refined yarn. I find the cushiness and rough look so comforting for cold weather cowls. I use 2 different color ways and interchange them and they always work. The colors are all complimentary to each other! Can't stop making the cowls!!

        Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I used this beautiful yarn to make a shoulder shawl for a friend. It's been a long cold winter and we old ladies need a little comfy warmth around our shoulders and neck. Wonderfully soft, easy, beautiful yarn. Working with Noro Kuryeon is a pleasure. I love ordering from WEBS. I don't have any shops close where I can get wool. Having so many choices is grand. Thanks to WEBS for keeping me knitting.

            Comments about Noro Kureyon:

Although this yarn feels rough while working with it, when it's blocked, it softens and blooms beautifully. I love it. Also, it works quickly because you keep going to see what color comes up next. However, you have to be a little "zen" about trying to match the striping - just let the colors happen. I use Kureyon Sock for socks, gloves and shawlettes.

            Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I love Noro colorways and this one (170)is the best yet. I wish they'd make this same colorway in a softer yarn than Kureyon, which is so coarse that it's not even much fun to knit with, let alone wear near the skin. I bought four skeins and made some simple legwarmers in great rainbow stripes.

              Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I bought color #327 and it is very, very pretty !

Although this yarn in not very soft, it is on a decent side of softness for garments such as cardigans and coats. Personally, I would not use it for any garment that would go over bare skin, but I have very sensiive skin to begin with.

It could also have more "spring"for my taste and better draping, but again, worsted weight Noro IMHO is best suited for "rustic" looking garments and original simple patterns offered by Noro. The thing that bothered me the most were knots that I found in alsmost every single skein (one and sometimes two of them...). I see no reason for those to be present in this yarn since each skein is only 110 yards long and especially since Noro is supposed to be "high end" yarn (???).

Bottom line - if this yarn was not so beautifully colored and did not have such decent price, I do not think it would be my first choice for the project (which was Bettna Cardigan).

                    Service and delivery comments:

This was my very first order from this company. I ordered three balls. when one showed up with a packing slip saying package contains three I was naturally worried. There was no proof of the shortage.. When I called customer service they were extremely helpful and immediately sent out my other two balls of yarn no questions asked.

They have made a customer for life.
