Made a striped slouchy hat with 2 different skeins and it is very pretty when you do this. This is what they do in a lot of the sweater patterns from Noro too.

The Upside: This yarn has some really beautiful colors and is super warm knitted up. The Noro Stripped Scarf I made (Raverly pattern) turned out lovely.

The Downside: Both skeins I used were full of sharp small organic material that needed to be picked out every few yards (I'm not exaggerating). Plus it's very coarse. Most people would probably find it unpleasant against bare skin.

I decided I while I wouldn't recommend this yarn to a friend, I would use it again myself.

      Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

It does have loose threads and at times it becomes thin, and then to thick.
And the service I got from webs was not good.
But the yarn is making a pretty scarf.

        Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

The thick and thin character of this yarn is perfect for rustic items. The long color striping is perfect for larger projects where the colors will really be shown off. The color ways are just beautiful. The silk in the yarn causes threads and lumps and bumps, so this is not good if you desire a smooth " perfect" finish. It also sheds and fuzzes. I do like this yarn and will most likely purchase it again. What I do not like is that all of the eighteen skeins I purchased had at least one knot. Many had two. This is unacceptable for pricey, "designer" yarn.

              Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

This was my first Noro Silk Garden purchase and it will be my last. I bought four skeins to make the scarf Jared Flood made famous, two skeins of one color and one skein each of two other colors. One skien was only 38g! Another skein in a different color was close to 60g. I understand they technically even out, but when I'm making a project in different colors, it'd be nice if there wasn't a 22g difference between two of them.

                Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

For once I knitted something for myself! I was given a gift card and decided to splurge - Enough Noro Silk to knit Lady Eleanor. And let me tell you, it was worth it.

As far as wool goes, this is on the less scratchy end. Still, I would only use it for something not worn right up against skin, particularly if you have sensitive skin. Definitely not for baby things, even though my baby loves wrapping herself up in the shawl.
