Cubics Knitting Needles (4-sided wood)
Knitter's Pride Cubics Double Pointed Needles 8"
Knitter's Pride Cubics Double Pointed Needles have a cuboid shape in the body of the needle that gradually gives way to perfectly tapered birch wood points. The ergonomic shape is comfortable to hold, lessens the need to grip tightly, and yields uniform stitch formation. The special shape also means that these needles stay put when not in use – no roll-aways! The densified, laminated wood is rich in appearance, yet it is also lightweight, strong, flexible, and warm to the touch. Needle size is measured diagonally and these needles fits into standard needle sizers just like round needles. Set of 5 needles. Also available in 6” length.

I have been trying the "square" double pointed needles for my sock knitting. I really like them...the feel in my hands and the fact that they don't roll. I have been using the Kollage METAL Square Double Pointed Needles, so I decided to try the Knitter's Pride WOODEN Cubic Double Pointed Needles. The Knitter's Pride needles feel very nice in my hands and have a really sharp point, making the knitting easy. However, I seem to be knitting much more loosely with the wooden needles than I do with metal needles, so I would try a size smaller wooden needles than I would for the metal needles. It also seems that the wooden needles are more delicate than the metal needles.....if you sat on the wooden needles you are quite likely to break them. Also, the wooden needles are not currently available in the small sizes (US 0-3) which I use most of the time.

I use these for making oven mitts and icords. I like that cubics come in the larger sizes
I have difficulty determining sizes after the info on the needles wears off which is during the first use. Is there some kind of needle size gauge available for cubics??

These square dpns are the greatest thing since sliced bread. They won't slide out of your work while knitting in the round. They won't chip. They are easy to hold.

Merchant response: Any standard needle gauge can be used to determine the needle size of the cubics. They are manufactured to fit into their proper size of a needle gauge.
