I am incredibly impressed with these needles. They combine the best of all worlds to me:

* They have the light weight of bamboo or wood, along with the slight 'grip' along the length of the needles that prevents needles from slipping out if you need to set your work down; this has often been an issue for me with metal needles, which tend to be heavier and are slightly more smooth along the length of the needle shaft.

* They have fine metal points. My primary issue with wood and bamboo needles, since I often work with no higher than size 3 or 4 US, is dull or dulling points. I don't have to worry about the tips wearing down after a few projects as I did with my smaller bamboo needles and replacing them repeatedly costs far more than a set of these in the long run! I'm hard on my needles, and these do not feel like I might easily break them unless I'm careful.

* I like the black. It really helps the stitches stand out without being a distraction. (Also, it's quite beautiful in person, with a subtle grain visible in it unseen in the images.) That the sizes are printed on the needle clearly, even at the very small sizes, is quite helpful, since smaller sizes aren't always available on needle sizers, and they can start blending together visually more easily than the larger sizes.

Not the "perfect needle."

The transition from the nickle point to the shaft often catches the yarn or makes it difficult for the yarn to slide down the needle as you work. Especially when purling.

The transition from the nickle point to the shaft often catches the yarn or makes it difficult for the yarn to slide down the needle as you work. Especially when purling.

The shaft is black. If you are working with dark yarn it is almost impossible to see your stitches.

The shaft is a little has a bit to much grip.

I like the fact that they don't bend out of shape as the bamboo do. I like that they are not as slippery as metal needles. But over all I find bamboo to be a better needle. Bamboo has moderate grab and not joint to interfere with the knitting and is easy to see your stitches on.

I'm not unhappy about my purchase but I rather doubt I will purchase another set unless the design changes.

  • Stitches Slide Smoothly

Cons

Best Uses

  • Susan B Anderson Socks

Comments about Knitter's Pride Karbonz Double Pointed Needles 6":

Great for sock pattern offered free by Susan B Anderson. Stitches do not slide off. Points are just right. Points do not pierce skin like my bamboo needls. Very comfortable feel. Very easy on my fingers because I don't have to use extra tension and squeezing to keep stitches from sliding off. One suggestion- it is difficult to see dark colored yarn on the dark needles- so silver or light tan might be better.

Comments about Knitter's Pride Karbonz Double Pointed Needles 6":

These are wonderful for any project. They don't let the yarn slip off as easily as other needles made for lace knitting and my hands can hold on to them easier. I really love knitting with these needles and plan to buy more of them as well as a variety of styles. Very happy with these.

I seldom use DPs but was struggling with size 8 bamboos with worsted weight yarn. The points were too blunt and I was having trouble entering the stitches. Sharp pointed Karbonz to the rescue ! I love using them.

Good all round product. One needle has a small catch between needle tip and body. Not enough to catch yarn just noticeable to feel.

The connection between the needle shaft and tips catches/snags the yarn. You would think that the manufacturer would have noted this early on.

Comments about Knitter's Pride Karbonz Double Pointed Needles 6":

I enjoyed making socks with these US 0 dpns. I'm a middle ground knitter, not too tight, not too loose. I was delighted with the lightweight material, and the stitches moved well; not too grabby, not too slippery. Also, if one of my brothers sits on them, they're going to need an ER extraction, because these needles are NOT going to break easily!
            .
However, if you're a tight knitter, the joins might cause you some hiccups. While they didn't hinder my knitting, I could definitely feel the yarn crossing the join. The tips have stayed on through a pair of socks, so I hope they will remain intact in the future as well.
            .
I will probably be buying more of these in the future.
