I ordered these for a sock project after losing a bamboo set of double-pont needles. I added "yarn slides easily" as a pro; however, an inexperienced knitter might find that is a liability. I would really recommend that you use point protectors during the course of working on a project, and moving them off the two working needles as you go, as it is easy to withdraw a needle by mistake!
I was surprised at how lightweight such a durable needle is.
The only real liability I can see is that the size markings are too tiny for my presbyopic eyes: Even with bifocals, I have to squint to read them. The obvious workaround is to have a needle gauge in your knitting bag at all times. Additionally, more durable packaging could function as a storage case for these double-pointed needles.

I love these needles. And, I love that the size is etched in the needle. I had a little trouble getting started, because the stitches kept slipping off the needles. But, they are so light and smooth, that it's really easy to keep a nice, tight guage.
