Tweed Yarns
Berroco Blackstone Tweed
Soft and tweed don't usually go together in the same sentence, but thanks to the addition of super kid mohair and angora, Berroco Blackstone Tweed is a stunner. The gorgeous palette means beautiful finished garments in either one color or colorwork. Made in Italy.

This is a lovely soft yarn in beautiful, unusual colorways. Detail work shows up very nicely.
The only caution is to treat this yarn gently and don't yank it, or it will break. That's the nature of this line of yarn.

I used this yarn in another color, purchased from a LYS for mittens. It was so soft I wanted a sweater from the yarn. I purchased Nor'easter color from Webs for the sweater and I am quite disappointed. It has bits of straw and plant debris spun into the yarn which makes it very scratchy. Also it is extremely thin in places. Makes me wonder if the yarn is seconds, not sold to yarn stores but only online. I love Webs quick service but will think twice before ordering yarn I can't touch first.

Comments about Berroco Blackstone Tweed:
I loved working with this. It's very nice and easy to knit with and much softer than it's tweedy look would suggest. I'm working on my second mens sweater with it and am about to order more for a third,

Comments about Berroco Blackstone Tweed:
I purchased this yarn at a LYS in order to make a cardigan. The yarn was soft and despite the price I bought it. The yarn does not have an even texture and is quite thin in places. It is a bit thin for a worsted weight, the number of stitches per inch were spot on but the height of the rows came out short. The yarn has a lot of mohair & angora (35% total) which I believe may compromise the integrity of the yarn's strength. The yarn will break with the slightest of tension. I don't recommend for use with a pattern with cables. You can't pull the stitches tight enough to prevent gapping holes without the yarn breaking. I think this yarn is best suited for small projects, but definitely not a sweater.

Comments about Berroco Blackstone Tweed:
I knitted a quick sweater that looks as if I had spent much more time on it than I had. I didn't have any problems with yarn breaks, as some other writers did, but I know angora is fragile so I was careful. Knitted up, it is a sturdy fabric.

Comments about Berroco Blackstone Tweed:
Knitting a hat and mittens for my granddaughter who's almost four and hoots at the owls in the night. The owl head that is the hat looks great in the tweed with a brown forehead and gold beak. So soft...it will be for a Christmas gift.

Comments about Berroco Blackstone Tweed:
Used the yarn to knit Norah Gaughan vol. 10 Taku. It is an interesting modular style pattern. The yarn hid some of the pattern due to texture. Drapes well due to silk content. Beautiful sweater even if all the design isn't readily apparent.
