A little weird but great yarn

By Mimi

Pros

  • Dyed Evenly
  • Knits Quickly

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Cape

Comments about Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Aran:

I had a bit of an adjustment getting used to the variance in thickness. It is more like home spun as the thickness varies between almost thread thickness to what I was thinking it would be. It makes for an interesting pattern as the thin spots make almost a lace pattern. The cape I'm knitting for my daughter is in seed stitch so it looks really nice.

    Service and delivery comments:

Received the yarn very quickly which is what I have always experienced with WEBS.

Comments about Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Aran:

I have just started knitting my first-ever sweater with this yarn, so I can't comment on how it performs as a garment, how it washes, how it retains its shape, etc. It is also the first time I have used good quality yarn (as opposed to hobby store yarn), so I have nothing to compare it to. But so far, it seems to me to be very easy to work with and forgiving (I had to rip out a section twice, and the yarn behaved just as well the 3rd time I knitted it as the 1st time). When the yarn arrived, it was EXACTLY the same color as shown on my computer screen when I ordered it. Very impressive! Someone else who reviewed this yarn said there were thistles in it, and much to my shock, there is a little bit of prickly plant matter! Not enough to concern me; just enough to remind me that a real sheep was involved at the front end of the production process.

I am a huge fan of all Debbie Bliss yarn! Great quality and can find some sales at times on this yarn. I love the baby cashmerino yarn especially for my grand babies projects.

Comments about Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Aran:

I've used this yarn to make gloves and fingerless mittens and it is very nice--warm and cozy but not too thick. Contrary to what the first reviewer said, I find this yarn plenty soft enough to wear against the skin comfortably, and I certainly haven't come across any thistles! I find that it does spring up nicely into beautiful cables and ribs--the natural thick/thin and tweedy texture of the yarn does not obscure the pattern. It does occasionally twist up a bit as you're working, but not enough to be frustrating.

Comments about Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed Aran:

I used it to make a vest. I knew I wouldn't be able to wear it next to my skin because it is Irish wool. However, I didn't expect all the thistles that need to be removed!!
