Regia 4-Ply Tweed

4 ply incorporates bright dots of color on gorgeous heathery backgrounds for a sock that looks like your favorite fisherman's sweater. This hard wearing yarn retains its shape and can simply be thrown in the washer when you're ready. Two balls makes a pair of socks.

      Comments about Regia 4-Ply Tweed:

Started a pair of socks with lots of texture, but discovered the yarn speaks just fine for itself; doesn't need to be gussied up to be effective; so my socks are called "Just Tweed" and they receive lots of compliments for their simple approach to life, using broad ribs after keeping a bit of texture at the cuff. Ordered more yarn and will challenge it this time with some lace and cable ribs.
Yarn has just the right amount of colorful "dots" to bring a bit of liveliness to the base color -- not too few as to be unnoticeable, but not so many they're a distracting jumble.

              Comments about Regia 4-Ply Tweed:

This yarn is a very dark brown and the tweedy bits are hardly noticeable. Based on the photo online I thought it was a more chocolatey color and that there were bright multicolored tweed bits. I'm sorry I purchased it.

                Comments about Regia 4-Ply Tweed:

I wanted a sock yarn that was classic and tasteful. Really, I have no need to have people drawn to look at my feet. The tweed result of this yarn was just what I wanted. This would make a great man's sock as well. I love having a sock that fits my tiny feet perfectly and is mellow enough to wear to the office with slacks. Honestly, I have not washed or worn them yet, except to wear one to admire it while I knit the second. Will buy more of the yarn.

I've used the Regia 4-ply Tweed for several sock projects. I have made socks for myself, for others, for charity projects. I really like this product. It is study, washes and wears beautifully, gets softer every time I wash my socks. And I love the tweediness. Can't say enough good about Regia Tweed!

                  Interestingly mixed on this one

                  By Captain Hook

                  from Olympia, WA

                  Comments about Regia 4-Ply Tweed:

I, the German sock yarn addict, find myself interestingly mixed on this yarn. At first I thought it wasn't up to the quality of the usual Regia sock yarns. The twist felt funny. Or something.

Couldn't put my finger on it till getting well into an entrelac-in-the-round shawl in two colors (anthracite and grey) of the 6-ply Regia Tweed (not this product, but very similar; two more plys).

Then I realized what felt different: guard hairs. Lots n lots of guard hairs!

Not a bad thing, since they are very soft staple, quite appropriate for a "fisherman's heather" type yarn. It's just that I am wired to expect all Regia yarns to have that dense, puffy, smooth quality. I find even nice guard hairs to be kinda...messy and imprecise. I'm on the precise-quant-data-and-engineering side of the spectrum, and I like my sockenwolle to have the smoother, slightly springier finish.

The 4-ply Tweed (this product) struck me similarly. Like the 6-ply it produces exquisitely soft stitches with lovely definition and springiness, subtle coloring, and a gorgeous hand. I have no doubt that it will wash and wear well.

I couldn't bring myself to give this yarn four stars on the basis of personal taste on the matter of guard hairs. :D It really is lovely.

Majority of knit projects are socks, which texture of yarn, color, ease of use, durablility & quality of materials is very important to me. I have been & am totally satisfied with Regia yarn products.
