I picked this yarn to make a sweater for my husband. I wanted a a good hearty wool. This was perfect. My husband picked the color and he loves the color.

Comments about Harrisville Designs Highland:
I knit a pullover cabled sweater with this yarn. Initial hand was rougher than I am used to, but it washed beautifully, kept its shape, showed great stitch definition, and softened with washing. There are bits of vegetable matter in the yarn that I take the time to tease out. There have been a couple of knots, not uncommon. I immediately planned a second sweater, and bought the yarn. It is also knitting up really nicely. I will definitely buy this yarn again. There are so many colors to try. I also like that it can be purchased in cones, avoiding having to join many skeins.

Comments about Harrisville Designs Highland:
My favorite weaving projects are rugs and upholstery fabrics. I've been using HD Highland (and Shetland for afghans) since 1984 (when it was $9 per cone). The available colors are perfect for color-weave and block weave projects. Rugs, blankets and afghans made of this yarn hold up well to professional cleaning.

Somewhat coarse, not a good knitting yarn for clothing, but good for hats, handbags, woven jackets.

Comments about Harrisville Designs Highland:
I am knitting a large cape with it. I need the body this yarn has and as it is an outerwear garment, it should do well. I read that after you wash it, it gets a little softer. But the courseness does not bother me. The colors are lovely. The price was right for the amount of yarn you get on a cone.

Comments about Harrisville Designs Highland:
I very much enjoy weaving with this. It is very forgiving. It'd be good for color and weave patterns, though I've mainly done twills. It felts together nicely so might not be the best for lace weaves.

I love that it has so much yardage on the cone and there is less piecing in of new skeins. The texture looks like handspun and the color is vivid

Comments about Harrisville Designs Highland:
One of my favorite sweaters is knit from this yarn. It is a bit rough when knitting, but becomes much softer after washing. Pilling has been minimal. It also felts very nicely.
Comments about Harrisville Designs Highland:
This yarn comes in colors that are incredibly vibrant. Many are "tweedy" in that they are comprised of several different colors. I have used Highland for weaving and the result after fulling was blanket-weight, soft, and beautifully colored. I have not tried it for knitting but bet it works well.
