My favorite weaving projects are rugs and upholstery fabrics. I've been using HD Highland (and Shetland for afghans) since 1984 (when it was $9 per cone). The available colors are perfect for color-weave and block weave projects. Rugs, blankets and afghans made of this yarn hold up well to professional cleaning.

      Comments about Harrisville Designs Highland:

I weave sashes for the living history community. This yarn is strong-no breaks on the loom, yet fine enough for the look I need to reproduce. The color range is sufficient. Delivery is quick. I love this yarn.

        Comments about Harrisville Designs Highland:

I have swatches with my Highland, and whilst it felt quite coarse while I was knitting, after washing it softened very nicely. The fabric feels cushy and soft. I used a cable pattern and stitch definition wasn't great but the overall effect was pleasing. This yarn will be great for the everyday sweater I have planned and should wear very well.i love the colour palette.

        Service and delivery comments:

As always, my yarn was delivered very quickly. I use Webs as my LYS because of my relatively remote location and I love the level of service I get. I can always rely on Webs to have what I want and to provide it promptly and at a very fair price.

Used as warp thread. Very nice color selection. Sadly the cost of the warp yarn puts the price of my finished product at my retail, with no room to cover weft or include a profit.

I have been enjoying using this yarn for cabled Aran-style pullovers, it is wooly and sturdy without being too coarse. It has a nice 'sheepy' feel while still maintaining some lanolin softness. Drapes nicely after washing, shows beautiful stitch definition.

This yarn is very coarse, and not nice on the hands when knitting; slow in knitting because of this. I purchased this product purely for the color.

                Comments about Harrisville Designs Highland:

I knit a pullover cabled sweater with this yarn. Initial hand was rougher than I am used to, but it washed beautifully, kept its shape, showed great stitch definition, and softened with washing. There are bits of vegetable matter in the yarn that I take the time to tease out. There have been a couple of knots, not uncommon. I immediately planned a second sweater, and bought the yarn. It is also knitting up really nicely. I will definitely buy this yarn again. There are so many colors to try. I also like that it can be purchased in cones, avoiding having to join many skeins.
