The yarn is very thick for it's worsted classification, I think it's more an aran or even a 'light' bulky. (Wishing all the listings/labels gave WPI instead of the stiches per inch. SPI vary with needle/knitter WPI does not)
I like the texture of the yarn, it is not SUPER soft - is still woolly & 'rustic' but not scratchy. Great range of colors. Knits up wonderfully fast, a lofty/loose spin but not too loose. Gives excellent definition to both simple and complex patterns. Once its knit it doesn't shed much- as knitted? well, a little but not near as much as many other lofty single plies.

Super itchy
While the llama adds a bit of sheen to the yarn (and that looks nice when knitted up), the feel of the knitted garment is so rough and itchy that it's almost unwearable. ...Read complete review
While the llama adds a bit of sheen to the yarn (and that looks nice when knitted up), the feel of the knitted garment is so rough and itchy that it's almost unwearable. I would not use this yarn again for anything other than bags or coasters.

I purchased two different colors and they're both great. I'm making a scarf and then plan to make a sweater with the second color. so far, the yarn is enjoyable to work with.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Pastaza:
Great yarn, I loved it so much I bought more of it in other colors. It knits fast, it's warm, and I've been using it for winter blankets. The only thing is that it sheds A LOT. But I figure it's worth it nonetheless.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Pastaza:
I have used Pastaza for, at least, ten sweaters dating back 21 years. The original sweater is still being worn often. It works particularly well with cables and holds their shape.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Pastaza:
I made a long sweater out of this yarn for my mother a couple of years ago and it really withstands the hands of time. It's still just as nice as when I made it and the best part is that it hasn't pilled at all. I don't find it to be rough and the blending of shades is really nice.
