Of all the alpaca lace yarns I've tried, the CE Silky Alpaca lace is one of my favorites--among the best alpaca/silk available. I love the subtle sheen and strength of the silk .The alpaca is soft without having too much halo so your stitch work really shines. The muted colors are rich-- neither bland nor garish. It's a perfect yarn for lace shawls and scarves!

I love the dark blue/green color but it bled onto my hands while I was knitting. I have used Silky Alpaca before in lighter colors and never had this problem. Webs advised me to do a vinegar wash on the yarn, but I should not have to do that.. I guess a test swatch is in my future.
I really do love the loft, weight, feel and sheen of the Silky Alpaca and hope this was just a bad batch. I am not giving up on a product I have enjoyed so much in the past.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Silky Alpaca Lace:
I've used this yarn on 3 projects. So I like it a lot for shawls! It doesn't look all that great while knitting, with uneven sts. Be patient and trust your knitting skills. It blooms beautifully after soaking and blocking. It slso holds up well with adding beads.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Silky Alpaca Lace:
I liked this yarn a lot, so much I ordered more in a different color. The original yarn I got was Garnet red. It made a very pretty shawl. The two balls I got were a bit fuzzy, and they did shed some as I knit, but not too badly. Didn't have problems with splitting, was really happy with finished product. It was light, but warm, and very nice feeling.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Silky Alpaca Lace:
I bought this to create a tallis (prayer shawl) for my husband. It's a 24" W x 72" L rectangle, double knit fabric on a Singer mod 280. This yarn works up so beautifully on the machine I bought more in black so I could make a top for myself. Absolutely the nicest fine gauge fabric. I think the silk in it is what makes it that much more superior in the finished product to other alpaca and merino lace weights.
