The color I ordered is called Verdigris- looked like bluish-teal, it's actually a dusty emerald, very green. Very nicely plied, not a single knot or join in any of the three skeins. Can't wait to use it! Only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is the weight; it's not really quite worsted weight, closer to DK.

Lovely soft silky yarn with real strength so knits up hard wearing and tough. Great stitch definition. This is such a great yarn I am going to try to save it by over-dying it a decent rich brown. I looked at the color picture on five different machines before I ordered TWO FULL BAGS of this yarn and I was bitterly disappointed when it arrived and glowed a baleful sickly greenish brown in the light. It is nothing like the photo on the web site. They should take it down or add a warning. I would not recommend this color to a friend but would recommend the yarn base.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Pure Alpaca:

Just finished crocheting a basketweave pattern afghan for an elderly family friend. I am sure he will enjoy the warmth and incredible softness...but I'm the one who is beside myself with how beautiful it turned out and how enjoyable it was to make it.

The colour is Liberty Heather (discontinued, but the line features other lovely heathers) -- a wonderful, subtle mélange of dark blues with touches of red. It's a perfect multicolour for a man.

Not only is it lovely, but the basketweave texture nicely counters alpaca's tendency to be drapey and not springy. This item has great texture and resiliency, so it should keep its shape and look gorgeous for a very long time.

I will definitely buy more of this yarn! Next project might be a sweater or jacket -- maybe a pattern which nicely balances drape and texture.

I purchased this yarn in a spiced pumpkin color that was on sale, and it is so beautiful. I am thankful that I bought so much of it as I cannot wait to make a lovely sweater for next fall.

I made a lace scarf with this yarn. I worked up quickly, the yarn sheds very little and is soft and warm as can be! I loved this yarn so much I ordered more! My only wish is that it came in more colors.

I knitted a scarf with the pumpkin color and from the start loved the feel of this yarn- so soft against the skin and how it handled. It gives great stitch definition and knits quickly. It does shed just a bit but I would expect that. I love this yarn so much that I ordered more!

I bought this yarn because I liked the color and it was on sale. It arrived the same day as a knitting magazine with a pattern perfect for the yarn, but I did not have enough yardage. I e-mailed Webs for more, and they were careful to match the dye lot.

This is the softest and most cuddly yarn I have ever used! I don't care if I never finish the sweater; it is so pleasing just to handle the yarn! It is light in weight and being alpaca will be very warm. I am using a size 7 addi turbo needle, but the yarn could take a smaller or larger size needle. The yarn has a slight haze to it. My patterning stitches stand out. Because it is so soft, I don't think it would be good for socks or other heavy wear garments.

I am knitting up the Lempster sweater by Norah Gaughan (Knitty Winter 2013) with this and it is coming along well. The yarn is soft and luscious and warm. The only quibble I have is that this is a boatneck sweater and where the sweater touches by collarbone area it does feel just the tiniest bit scratchy/itchy.
