The yarn is beautiful - extremely soft and a pleasure to knit with. However, the color was notably different than how it appeared online. The "russet" was depicted as vivid dark orange, but in reality is a kind of pinky brick red - pretty enough, but almost identical to a sweater I already had and definitely not what I expected. I kept it anyway because if feels so nice, and I realize the site can't totally control how colors appear on different monitors, but this is a definite downside to online ordering.

I ordered one ball of this yarn because the it looked so pretty on the monitor and had a great description. It is affordable and the colors are very pretty. Once I knitted it up, however, it lost a lot of its appeal. Just moving the yarn around in your lap makes it come apart, shed, and ultimately, my swatch looked like it had been through the wash before I even finished it. I sheds in wisps, and the yarn loses its luminosity as it becomes fabric. I wet blocked my swatch to see if it would improve the appearance and it made it worse. The yarn just fell apart. Azapa by Araucania, Cocoon by Rowan, and Lustra by Berrocco were much better. I did order a very dark color, Damson, so maybe that made the appearance worse. I did not purchase more of this yarn. It did knit to gauge as stated.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Ariosa:

I chose this yarn as a substitute for another, more expensive yarn for a tea cozy project. The Ariosa knit to the given gauge and was even very close to the suggested color in the pattern. I was very happy with the feel of the yarn as I knit and the project came out beautiful. I would buy this yarn again for this project and others.
