One hank made this great slouchy hat! I used size 9 needles for the band and size 11 for the body of the hat. Here is a tip (probably obvious to many but I was slow figuring it out).......When winding your ball, pay attention to all the colors and pick which one would be best next to your face. Start your hat with that color. It is worth weaving in two extra ends. (Found one knot in this hank, by the way, but that is a bit to be expected with Noro) Happy knitting!

All Noro yarns are extraordinarily colorful and unique. You can spot a Noro yarn a mile away because of it's wonderful, artisanal colors. But that's where Noro's beauty ends. It is unevenly dyed, with many white gaps showing through. It is unevenly spun which allows tufts of fiber to gape out of the strand. And it is dirty ... that is, full of detritus that sticks up and out of the knitted fabric. Pulling the detritus out causes the loosely spun strand to further unwind. That's why I can't rate Noro any higher than "average". It is not an average yarn. It is beautiful, but so flawed that it doesn't deserve a higher rating.

Comments about Noro Kogarashi:
Unlike Noro Kureyon this yarn is soft to the touch. The silk plies are beautiful and soft. If you like a nubby yarn that's really a dream to knit with then this is the yarn for you!

Comments about Noro Kogarashi:
Lovely texture and stripes. I used these to make simple cowls. While they provide warmth, the yarn feels very nice against the skin. My best use would be scarves and hats, those who like stripes would love as sweaters. Knits up for me as an Aran weight.

Comments about Noro Kogarashi:
I have made several hats with this yarn. They are the first to sell at my market table every time! Gorgeous color combos. Only complaint is that it's stretchy and doesn't have a whole lot of memory.

Comments about Noro Kogarashi:
This yarn lives up to the incredible Noro reputation of unique and intriguing colorways. The transitions between colors is fantastically smooth and gradual. The quality does not diminish with use and is not easily subject to pilling. I did have a couple skeins with drastic color changes due random knotting and wish that Noro would not permit skeins with knots to be sold with others that do not.

Comments about Noro Kogarashi:
Nice yarn, the combination of the silk and wool and Noro's unique dying makes a very lovely fabric. Made a simple seed stitch cowl out of two skiens which is now my favorite. The yarn worked up quickly. Highly recommended for accessories.
