Loved the subtle long striping, but it came with broken places and knots in the balls I ordered. It knit up too small (even after a gauge swatch) as the project went on -- maybe due to the anemic DK weight? -- so I frogged it. I thought the knots/breaks in the yarn were just my bad luck of the draw, but when I gently ripped everything out there were dozens of knots from split stitches I hadn't noticed and I ended up with a knotty, torn mess. Granted, I'm not super-advanced, but one thing I know how to do is frog a piece. And this yarn was completely unforgiving. If you can get it all right the first time and are a very slow, patient knitter who watches every stitch to avoid split strands (instead of watching TV or conversing or whatever), then by all means use it. I'll be avoiding its gorgeous colors in the future.
- Finished Texture
- Breaks pretty easily
- More Like Sport Than Dk
- Splits Easily
This yarn is beautiful! Rich, gorgeous colors, a lovely sheen....However, especially when crocheting, it's very easy to pick up unwanted individual strands from the yarn loop you're pulling your working loop through. This complicated things & makes unraveling stitches much more difficult.
This yarn also works up more like sport yarn than DK, in my opinion.
Ordered 3 skeins of this to knit a baby sweater. I'm a little bummed that it knits up more like sport weight than DK.
- Beautiful depth of color
- Long color shifts
- Very soft
I have used this yarn in various colors for 5 or 6 entrelac projects over several years and recommend it highly. The color shifts are long, which makes it perfect for this type of work.
I usually like alpaca but since some people have allergies, I'm trying to work with other fibers.
This was a pleasant surprise. Just received it, but it feels and looks promising. The Lilac is very pretty with subtle color variations and nicely textured.
