From the first touch, I was thrilled by how soft this yarn is. It's nice to work with but now, only three balls into my project, the hem is already pilling and looking worn. Because of that I wouldn't buy it again.
I bought this yarn for my daughter's hat/scarf set since she has eczema. It's so soft that I just bought more to knit myself a summer cardigan. It feels as soft as cashmere! I don't understand the bad review. I was knitting with a bandaid on my thumb and it still didn't snag....
After swatching (stockinette, with garter edges) on size 7 U.S. needles, I washed my square of "Soft Cotton" in the washing machine on a cold setting, then put it in the dryer until it was almost dry. It did not change: it did not shrink or pill or stiffen. I was hoping that it would "bloom" a bit so that my uneven tension would smooth out in the wash, but the tension also stayed the same. I have since roughed it up, and it still is not pilling. Just to be sure, I might drop down to a size 6 and adjust my pattern. Even on size 7s, this yarn would be fine for kids' as well as adults' projects. It was fast to knit with and I love its softness.
In my 50 years of knitting, this is the worst yarn I have encountered. The quality is so bad that it does not only pill like no yarn I have ever knit with, it virtually disintegrates. Any garment made with this yarn will end up looking like a rag. It is made in China with apparently no quality controls.
