I love to crochet but don't like fuss. I have PTSD (Post Traumatic Shock) and working with soft yarn and soothing colors is healing for me. This yarn creates beautiful patterns with long smooth color ways. Personally I think most yarn will knot in the skein if you aren't careful, and my generation learned to roll balls of yarn to get around this. I use a box my husband made 30+ years ago that holds the yarn balls so they don't escape while feeding the flow of yarn smoothly through a hole in the top. A coffee can would work as well. ;-)

I chose this because the baby-to-come's mother will be wanting to wash often anything the baby uses. She's fanatic about that, and I wanted it to be easy so she'd feel easy about using the blanket. It's not as soft as I had imagined, though it's really OK. I couldn't tell the balance of colors in the range I chose from the skein, so I didn't get the amount of yellow I was hoping for. Another time I would have looked further than my nearby store for the original skeins. What I bought here was an extra one, since I wanted a little larger sized blanket than they had yarn for. I wish I had made the effort to look further, though it will be fine. I think I should have held out for a cotton blend. Since the yarn is what do you call it (a chainette?) it has a single fine thread that makes it all up. If one strand breaks it's possible for the whole yarn to come apart, creating a break. This happened far down the web which took some time to repair. I later learned a way to splice this kind of yarn by threading a yarn needle with the next end down the center of the chain.

        Comments about Ella Rae Seasons:

The colors were so dark and drab, not like the photo at all. I sent a very nice e-mail to ask about the problem. I got a very poor e-mail back which told me that I should go to another site and look up items made with it as I didn't understand the self stripe as I knit. First I had used this yarn before and I crochet. So I returned the e-mail with a very to the point, your product is bad and requested a return UPS label. Yarn was returned. I would
love to try other color, but am afraid to do so.

          Service and delivery comments:

I was really impressed with the delivery time on my yarn. Really fast service & the yarn was a good price also.

This yarn is a favorite of the members of the Shawl Ministry at church. It has interesting colorways, knits up quickly, only takes 3 skeins per shawl, and has a pleasing texture. It makes a cozy comforting shawl. My only wish is that there were even more colors to choose from.

              Comments about Ella Rae Seasons:

This is a nicely dyed yarn with a great variety of colors which don't just hop in and out - a long portion devoted to each changing color. I'm making two Entrelac scarves and love the way the color comes in blocks. It's a good combo of silk and other fibers. It knits fairly quickly but the yarn tends to twist up fairly quickly if you don't keep a grip on it. So far, it feels somewhat scratchy but that will probably soften when washed and blocked.

                Comments about Ella Rae Seasons:

I made the Topsy Turvey Shawl by Joanne T. It's a Faroese style and turned out lightweight but warm. I wear it around the house and reading in bed. I made two other shawls for friends out of the same yarn (different colors) and pattern. We all love the shawls in this yarn--the yarn is perfectly suited to the pattern. I also made Steinbeck Scarf by Teresa Chorzepa. It is a fairly narrow scarf with one big cable down the center. It is beautiful with the long subtle color changes of Seasons, and soft against the neck.

I am knitting a lap robe out of it and love the way the colors fade into each other. I generally knit Continental, which means that split stitches are more frequent, but I did not encounter that with this yarn.

I used this to knit a sweater. The first ball was great--no breaks in the yarn. The second had a at least four spots where the yarn was broken and had to be knotted. It also did not seem to have as much yarn in it. The color changes were smooth and made a nice fabric. Thus far the sweater is holding up well. I have worn it 7 or 8 times and it does not show much pilling.

It doesn't pill--fabulous! It's soft and warm around my neck and face. I've purchased it in 5 different color combinations and have given the cowls as gifts. EVERYONE who received a cowl has loved it!
