Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Aire

Plymouth Baby Alpaca Aire is true to its name! This soft chainette yarn is super airy and lofty-- it's a great worsted weight, and when knit with a  bigger size needle, the looped fibers puff up to create the fluffiest fabric. Baby Alpaca Aire is springy to knit; the chainette construction gives the alpaca more elasticity, so large projects won't stretch out. All that, plus glorious color in solids and heathers, and the sumptuous feel of 100% alpaca! Made in Peru

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Aire:

I used a large needle to make a coverlet as well as a smaller needle to make a hat. Both provided good stitch definition. I have not used either so, I do not know whether the fiber will continue to snag or if it will shed.

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Aire:

This yarn is such a pleasure to knit with. It's SO soft & cushy. Reknitting is no problem as the yarn bounces back with no wear showing & it's very forgiving of any loose stitches - they blend well. After knitting half a cardigan I HAD to order more for a future pullover because it's nice next to the skin.

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Aire:

I have used this yarn for scarves and slouch or beret type hats because it is so soft.
It is not the best yarn for holding cables ( use a different fiber yarn)
When the yarn is knit on 6,7,or 8 needles it creates a beautiful heather quality in addition to being very soft.
        Wish there were more colors.

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Aire:

I love how soft and cushy this yarn is. The color was extremely vivid too. I made a shawl and although the yarn is super stretchy, this application works. If I were making a sweater, I might think twice. One thing I noticed was that there were at least 3 knots in each skein which was ok with me because of the mesh wind. It wasn't noticeable.

              Service and delivery comments:

Service was great. I had to order one additional skein later and it arrived promptly. It was also the same dye lot. Yippee!

Silky, soft, fluffy but fingertips showed signs of dye

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Aire:

Enjoyed working with soft yarn however did not like that fingertips would darken with dye. It did wash off easily but be careful when knitting up. I hand washed oversized throw I made and rinse it very well at least 5 sink-fills of cold water until no more signs of black dye.

I made an Irish cabled sweater with this yarn, and the stitch definition was really nice. It's a heavenly soft yarn, and I'm knitting another sweater with it. It's a bit tricky to knit with if you're working with intricate designs or ribbing; I recommend blunt tips, and wood needles are great as well.

this yarn is by far the most pleasure able to knit with. It is so soft, fluffy and light. I am knitting an afghan for my mother's 70th birthday and have just purchased a bunch of skeins in 2 of its other colors to make infinity scarves. This way I always will have a project going in this yarn. Such a treat. I recommend using needles that have a blunter point and a loose knit with this yarn keeps it airy.
