Misti Alpaca Chunky

This lightly twisted two-ply chunky alpaca is as soft as any product we’ve had the pleasure to work with. It is just yummy. It knits up quickly and is great for garments and accessories.  Made in Peru.

    Comments about Misti Alpaca Chunky:

After finishing a "Teddy Bear Blanket" for my grand-daughter, and falling in love with this yarn, I've decided to make heirloom family throws.

This yarn knits up quickly and the softness of the yarn slides through your hands. It's like touching a baby's face!

It is a renewable resource, cruelty free, artistic medium of self-expression that breathes beauty and purpose into the life of the article you create.

The only thing I don't like is that I don't have more time to knit with it!

        Comments about Misti Alpaca Chunky:

As with the Plymouth baby alpaca, this does shed, but the eggplant color was just beautiful, and I made a big cowl with it as a gift. 3 skeins will make the Gap-Tastic free pattern on Ravelry, more like 13 inches high but that is plenty. It's very soft with a nice drape, and yet I notice baby alpaca does still have a little itch factor if you're sensitive. I'm new to knitting, so I'm not sure if washing and blocking would help set the fibers. Just putting it on a dress form to photograph left a lot of fibers behind. I love it anyway, but I think for my next scarf I'll try maybe a merino blend.

        Comments about Misti Alpaca Chunky:

I used this yarn to make Purl Bee's Men's Mini Herringbone Scarf. It was wonderful to knit with, though the herringbone pattern was somewhat obscured by the sponginess of the yarn. I blocked the scarf by spraying it lightly with water and tugging the rows into horizontal position. If I were to redo the project, I would probably choose a scarf with a more distinct, chunky pattern, or do plain stockinette.

        Comments about Misti Alpaca Chunky:

I have made 5 snoods with the chunky alpaca. While knitting I feel as though I have a kitten in my hand. It is so soft and luxurious. The colors are beautifully dyed. Those who have received them as gifts have said it has become their favorite scarf. The only drawback is that it sheds slightly. I plan on making more things with this yarn.

          Comments about Misti Alpaca Chunky:

I bought this yarn to make a snood for a friend with a sensitivity to sheep wool both with the scratchy factor as well as the lanolin. The llama's wool worked out perfectly because it is super soft, with no scratchiness and no lanolin because llama's don't produce any oil in their wool. The yarn knits up very quickly and fairly tightly, which is good because I used it to make a warm, outside garment. The finished product was beautiful and I was very satisfied with it. I'm very excited to finish my next snood for myself so that I can also have the warmth it provides.

          Service and delivery comments:

My yarn arrived on time and in an appropriate package that caused no damage to the yarn. I was very satisfied with the promptness and condition it arrived in.

I have knitted the Bella's Mittens several times with this yarn, they come out beautiful, soft and warm.

            Service and delivery comments:

Delivery prompt but the packaging was awful. This yarn is lofty and my 2 skeins were crammed into a bag so tightly that the skeins were in the fold at the top of the plastic envelope and I pulled and held the top of the envelope, when I cut it also cut into the skein. The one skein was quickly replaced but when I called the customer service rep was short with me and didn't seem to care that the packaging was not done well.
