I'm very happy with this yarn - it has a beautiful drape and hand, that subtle almost-sparkle from the bamboo fibers, and best of all, doesn't seem prone to splitting in spite of its single-ply construction. Colors are lovely too. It's knitting up for me at 5 spi on size 6 bamboos. I'll happily reorder this for spring and summer projects.

I found this yarn needs a smaller needle than the label recommends. I used a size 4 needle, and it behaved much better than when I used a size 6. It also needs a firm tension to keep the twist from loosening, and the yarn gets messy if you have unknit stitches.
The sheen is very nice however, and I would use it for dressy things like special occasion wear.

Comments about Valley Yarns Southwick:
This is really nice to work with, especially given the fact that I usually have a hard time with cotton/bamboo/anything that doesn't have a certain amount of give to it. It drapes beautifully and has a gorgeous sheen. The only reason it's not getting the full five stars is because the yarn was a little splitty and the product was a gift, so I don't know how well it's holding up.

I made a sweater for my daughter-in-law who lives in southern california, so needed something not wool and not heavy. This yarn is very soft and light feeling. Don't yet know how it washes tho. Lovely yarn.

This is becoming one of my favourite summer yarns. The lustre is beautiful, it's soft, and is a joy to knit. I'm making a cardigan for my mother as a birthday gift, and this will be something she'll treasure.
