Had several false starts as it was difficult to choose between creating a fabric with crochet or knitting, then stockinette or garter stitch. Settled on a garter stitch for the shrug as it gave strength to this somewhat delicate, easily broken yarn. The fingerless gloves worked up well in crochet. Either way the colors glow!

I purchased 3 hanks to knit Noro's mobius cowl, making it narrower than the pattern called for. Could never knit to gauge, but that did not matter with this pattern. Had enough left over to make a collar from Vogue Knitting's Sping/Summer 2013 issue. Although this yarn is hand dyed, I did not expect such major color differences (in quantity) among the 3 hanks. E.g., there was lots of green, tan, aqua, and rust but hardly any blue in one hank; the other hanks had lots of all the colors.

        Comments about Noro Shiraito:

I loved the feel of this yarn but was thoroughly disappointed by all of the manufacturer's knots (5 in one skein!!!)

It is exceptionally soft and snuggly feeling.

          Comments about Noro Shiraito:

I have used Noro products over the years, but shiraito is my tactile favorite. I want to touch it everyday. It is soothing. It works up quickly and it does the work for you.
The only part you have to think about is balancing the color by using the outer string or or inner string when balancing the color on the sleeves to the body.

          Service and delivery comments:

Service was the fastest I ever received. One of the yarns was backordered. I got it in less than a week. That doesn't always happen but I was pleasantly surprised when it did happen this time.

          Best Uses

            Comments about Noro Shiraito:

Used for a scarf. It's very light, soft and squishy BUT both skeins came with multiple knots, one skein came with a very lightly twisted join which promptly came apart and, where there were joins there was NO attempt to match colors. I doubt this yarn would stand up to even the gentlest hand washing and would not stand up to being used in any kind of garment. My scarf will need to be stored in a bag so that it doesn't snag or rub against anything that would pull it apart.

Super soft yarn with stunning colorways. Looks GREAT in a crocheted garment (glove-lets) but is very fragile, especially when tying off - breaks easily!

I love the way the colors blend and work together. I would like to knit two strands alternating and make a "painting" out of this yarn. The feel of the yarn was so soothing. I had my knitting bag next to me in a difficult meeting and found that just touching it settled my upset.
