I've made a number of small purses/makeup bags as well as a market bag from this yarn. It knits into a nice fabric for these purposes, however the sweater I knit with it is a little dense/heavy, and the yarn is quite splitty so lace work can be tricky. Colors are fantastic in person - the yellow is not as bright as it appears on screen and it the perfect sunny mustard tone I've been searching for.

Comments about Valley Yarns Greenfield:
I used this yarn in Mauve for stripes in a top that I knit with with Venus S. Charles (which is a very shiny multicolor yarn) and it looks great. Mostly because the weight and the color match were perfect.
The texture is also nice and soft for a non-mercerized cotton. It doesn't have that dull cotton look.
It splits a little but it's manageable.
Compared with other 100% cotton yarns of the same weight, it's a great buy.

I made a summer shell with this yarn. The places where it was so splitty (many places) show up in the finished project, even after blocking. I am a cotton knitter, but won't use Greenfield again.

Comments about Valley Yarns Greenfield:
I use the product to make amigurumi. I use a LOT of yarn, and unmercerized cotton in general is hard on my hands after a while, but Greenfield has a smooth quality to it, without being super-shiny, that makes it much easier to use. It can periodically unwind, leading to splitting the yarn with my crochet hook, but it also repairs very quickly if I catch my mistake, unlike with other yarns I've used. It's easily the most comfortable 100% unmercierized cotton yarn I've ever used, and the price is definitely right for this quality ^_^

Comments about Valley Yarns Greenfield:
I too am making the Oriel cardigan. Every 88 yard skein has had at least 2 knots; this last skein had 4. It alternates between so lightly twisted that the plies lie next to each other to so tightly twisted that it kinks up on itself coming out of the ball. I've got 3/4 of the sweater knit. I'm going to forge on but I won't ever buy this yarn again. I'll see how it behaves as a sweater but I might frog the whole thing and make lots of dishcloths out of it.
Comments about Valley Yarns Greenfield:
I find this yarn somewhat splitty but not too much. I knit Continental, so maybe that makes a difference. I've made three sweaters and find it has a nice sheen, not too heavy and really shows off cables and lace patterns nicely. Great yarn!
Comments about Valley Yarns Greenfield:
This yarn is very splitty and snags easily. I've learned my lesson with un-mercerized cotton.

Comments about Valley Yarns Greenfield:
Purchased this yarn for the Oriel cardigan, despite my dislike of cotton yarn. Yes, it was harsh, splitty and hard on the hands. Even in a short sleeve cardigan, the yarn makes for a heavy garment. It takes forever to dry after washing. So the search for a good cotton yarn continues.
