Wanted an easy-care, soft cotton yarn to substitute for a yarn that the Child's sweater pattern called for (which I did not care for).
This product fit the bill! The microfiber content makes the yarn softer and less heavy than cotton. The white is beautiful - snow white. Plus, it is machine washable, which a busy mom can appreciate. Stitch definition was fantastic, and I've attached a pic of the finished Child's Beach Hoodie to illustrate same.
The only drawback is that the yarn has a tendency to split (as does most cottons), so knitting requires attention. However, this yarn is nowhere near as splitty as other cottons I've used (such as the one I was substituting)!
I would definitely use again.

    Comments about Valley Yarns Longmeadow:

Used this yarn in melon, which is a lovely color, to make a crocheted summer tank. Very soft cotton blend that worked up very quickly. The yarn split some, but that seems to be a common theme for cotton yarn. I washed the finished top in the washing machine and it came out perfectly. I would definitely use this yarn again.

      Comments about Valley Yarns Longmeadow:

I ordered 14 colors of this yarn to play with while crocheting each of the 144 motifs in the Eckman book mentioned above. When done, I'll probably join for an afghan. The yarn is the perfect weight for this project, with enough body to maintain the shapes but soft enough to feel good as it flows through my fingers. The colors are soft and lovely, and include a light and dark version in most shades for great blending in this project. I've not yet found a down-side to it.

I've been working on a baby blanket for my future niece with this yarn. Excellent to work with and lends itself well to baby products because it's machine washable and not all acrylic nastiness!

I bought a pink and a blue for baby hats. It was on sale. That should have been a clue. The description said yard was cotton with a micro-fiber. I made the wrong assumption that the micro-fiber was added to give the cotton some give. It did not. Both colors were unattractive. Not sure how else to describe them. They were not the bright colors on the web site.

Great value for a very nice cotton yarn. I used it for a custom order & my client was extremely happy with the feel & lightness the top.
Overall, a durable cotton yarn that is easy to crochet with (could be a bit splitty for knitting-you'll want to use duller tips).
The microfiber blend helps to keep larger projects nice & light weight. Color fast, machine washable, doesn't stretch...you could machine dry however that will ruff up the surface & fade the color. An adult size top air dries in 24 hours :-)

This yarn has a wonderful soft hand feel and I love it. I was a surprised at the thinness - I wouldn't count this a dk, more sport weight. But I do love the yarn and will adjust my expectation. I ordered a few colors and the only one I was surprised over was the coral - it is definitely more a pink than a coral. Definitely worth buying this yarn,
