Valley Yarns Longmeadow

Valley Yarns Longmeadow is a cotton/microfiber blend that is the perfect yarn for your warm weather knitting. It is incredibly soft to the touch and has a lovely twist. The color palette is light and bright. You will love knitting with Valley Yarns Longmeadow!  Made in Peru.

Note: The label on this yarn recommends hand washing. However, we have successfully washed many swatches in the machine and feel confident calling this yarn machine washable.

For great ideas on how to use Longmeadow, check out "Valley Yarns on Ravelry" on our blog!

Wanted an easy-care, soft cotton yarn to substitute for a yarn that the Child's sweater pattern called for (which I did not care for).
This product fit the bill! The microfiber content makes the yarn softer and less heavy than cotton. The white is beautiful - snow white. Plus, it is machine washable, which a busy mom can appreciate. Stitch definition was fantastic, and I've attached a pic of the finished Child's Beach Hoodie to illustrate same.
The only drawback is that the yarn has a tendency to split (as does most cottons), so knitting requires attention. However, this yarn is nowhere near as splitty as other cottons I've used (such as the one I was substituting)!
I would definitely use again.

    Comments about Valley Yarns Longmeadow:

I used this yarn to knit a Debbie Bliss floral sweater for my great niece who lives in California. She lives in warm weather all year and doesn't need a heavy sweater, but will wear a light weight one.
The colors of yarn I chose will help make the bunches of Violet's on a white background. The cardigan has pockets and is knitting up quickly. I know Charlotte will enjoy wearing her sweater because it is soft and feels smooth in the hand.

Using this yarn to knit a summer top that will be appropriate for the workplace (academia). At the moment, my hectic schedule is preventing me from making much progress, but so far, I like how my project is turning out!

Very prompt delivery! If memory serves, I received my order in less than a week. Everything was in good condition.

I used this for a baby sweater for my granddaughter. Maybe I just didn't choose a good pattern, or good colors. I'm sure the sweater will be functional, but it just looks ordinary.

        Comments about Valley Yarns Longmeadow:

This was ordered to make a sweater for a person who ends up machine washing and drying knitted objects. A sample which was supposed to be machine washed and dried flat was put in washer and drier (by "mistake") and came out fine. The sample was knitted in an Aran pattern which seems to be well maintained in spite of rather rough treatment.

Knitting with the yarn is easy and goes smoothly altho the yarn tends to split on occasion. Easily remedied. It has a pleasant soft feel and seems to have a lot of give without being stretchy. It is cotton blend so has a feel very different from wool and wool blends.

        Service and delivery comments:

Service is prompt and delivery rapid.

          Comments about Valley Yarns Longmeadow:

The yarn is soft and lovely. The twist is nice but you do need to watch so that you don't split the yarn as it untwists easily. I'm making a lap throw for my wheelchair bound grandaughter and it is the perfect weight for this. I plan to buy more for summer camisoles because I hand wash things like that and the cost makes these projects affordable on a retirement budget. Good quality for the price. I'm pleased.

I am working on a lace tee shirt project, the Austin Tee by Jean Chung. Longmeadow yarn is very easy to work with! I am having NO trouble with splitting, and when I make a mistake in the lace and have to tink back and re-knit, the yarn cooperates and this is an easy process. It is so soft and the texture is coming out great! I am delighted.
