Cascade Yarns Pastaza
Cascade Pastaza is a wonderful llama/wool blend. The llama adds softness and warmth while the wool lightens the weight. It is available in many beautiful colors, including several gorgeous heathers. Made in Peru.
Check out Brooklyn Tweed's Girasole blanket for a great pattern using 14 hanks of Pastaza. You can purchase and download it now in the Ravelry pattern store.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Pastaza:
I knit sweaters for my father from this yarn which he calls "big guns"...cold weather sweaters. Once Pastaza is knit up (I use size 5 needles), it does not shed or pill which is good news since it is a single ply yarn. It is a balanced spin and shows off knit/purl patterns surprisingly well.

Comments about Cascade Yarns Pastaza:
I love this yarn for the al dente texture of the fabric it makes. I'm making a sweater for my dbf and it has great lap feel. Our cat approves of the texture, and she has the most refined taste. After this I'm casting on Stefanie Japel's cozy vee neck from Fitted Knits, and then maybe a cat mat, so the whole family will be pampered.
Comments about Cascade Yarns Pastaza:
I knit the Ariosa cardigan vest out of this and have worn it several times. It is wonderfully warm and I have experienced no shedding or itchiness with a long-sleeved top underneath. The red color is very rich and the llama adds a slight sheen.
Comments about Cascade Yarns Pastaza:
I loved this yarn. Very soft and easy to work with. I didn't find it coarse or itchy either. The llama adds slipperiness and it knits fast.
Comments about Cascade Yarns Pastaza:
Great yardage for the price. Soft but not as soft as Merino or Llama. Still it was easy on the hands. I didn't find it itchy. Since llama is a naturally heavier yarn that wool or alpaca I'd probably never use this for a sweater next to skin, but would use for a jacket or wear with a blouse. I bought this for Jerod Flood's Girosole. Absolutely love the results.
Comments about Cascade Yarns Pastaza:
Extremely itchy, llama sheds all over the place.
