Made a striped slouchy hat with 2 different skeins and it is very pretty when you do this. This is what they do in a lot of the sweater patterns from Noro too.

I have bought tons of this Noro Silk Garden from multiple suppliers. My stash has reached stupid levels really. It's super fun to knit the Jared Flood striped scarf with this yarn - you never know what you're going to get. However, the yarn is pretty coarse, and I consistently find what appear to be wooden splinters in every skein. I have no idea what that's about. Even when I find the splinters and pick them out, the knitted fabric is way too scratchy for me to wear. Garments knitted from silk garden need to be off the skin or given to people who are un-itchable.

    Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

I love the changing colors as I am knitting scarves. I get so many compliments when I wear them. People have stopped me to ask where I got it. When I tell them its homemade they are stunned. They are the softest things to wear and the many colors insure that they go with anything in your wardrobe.

I knit in class and everyone finds the color progressions fascinating. The resulting scarves aren't cheap, but they're unique and lovely. (I use Brooklyn Tweeds scarf pattern, which you can find easily on the Internet.)

    My desert island yarn!

      Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

Silk Garden is my 'desert island' yarn -- I own so much of it that it has its own 30 gallon bin in the stash. Sure, there's usually vegetable matter needing to be picked out, and it's a good idea to rewind each skein into balls before knitting from it so you can spot breaks and knots (and make sure you color-match ball-to-ball for an even color transition), but when you're finished, you have something utterly glorious.

For those who find the hand of the yarn too scratchy even after washing -- hand-wash in cool water and work a dollop of hair conditioner into the fabric -- it will soften up like butter.

            Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

I haven't found any design for a 4-weight yarn that Silk Garden doesn't turn out just flat gorgeous. Its only limitation so far is that it contains wool, which some folks are allergic to, but other than that I turn to it time and time again. I have even designed new articles just to accomodate Silk Garden.

            Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

The color blends of Silk Garden are very nice and it's fun to knit with as you anticipate the color changes. This yarn sheds though. When I'm knitting I notice lots of thin fuzz on my lap requiring a lent roller to remove. I am making a wrap, but now I'm wondering about the shedding.

            Comments about Noro Silk Garden:

Noro does a great job on color changes. I have only used this yarn exclusively for a Jarod Flood stripe scarf and it comes out great. The yarn is not exactly clean. I have consistently found plant fibers spun into the yarn which have included some thorns. It does knit up beautifully, but I cant say its great yarn. I love the colorways and will continue to use it for scarves.
