Noro Ayatori

Noro Ayatori is a beautiful wool/silk blend that comes in Noro's signature striping colors that really pop. This yarn has a subtle sheen to it from the silk, and the colors shift into one another for stunning color changes in your project. Made in Japan.

I've been a fan of Noro for a couple of decades now - I'm not a devotée of intarsia knitting, so having a yarn with a lot of color impact is a plus for me. Because I find many of Noro's yarns to be somewhat scratchy for next-to-skin wear, mostly I've made coats and jackets in the past, but the Ayatori is actually quite soft, with excellent yardage. I've made this into a scarf/shawl, and I'm very happy with the results.

Tried #24 Ayatori. Definitely not a DK wt. Also, this color variation was like an Easter egg palate. Not for adult wear at all.

                    Comments about Noro Ayatori:

Watching the colors change as you knit is pure pleasure. The texture is interesting because the yarn varies in weight, but a very thin or heavy spot must be cut out. I have not tried to block or wash a project yet, but I know I'm not going to dry clean, so it may felt.

tends to knit tightly...causing the fibers to rub together..this destorys some of the sofness in the yarn
