I'm using this for a moebius shawl. The project has been tossed around for a couple of years. The yarn felts with work (it's about 1/2 silk) so I can do spit-joins but it hasn't compacted while I've made it wait.
The pattern is a garter stitch with simple lace at intervals (from a Cat Bordhi pattern). Although a single, it shows the stitches well. I find it easy to knit (I'm using a size 7 Addi Turbo Lace needle). The yarn does not have a tendency to split; it flows easily through my fingers and around the needles. I like the way its multi colors display; there is no striping (an effect I didn't want), and the "pooling" is small - maybe a two-row "pool" (I like pooling, but only on the right project and this isn't it).
I fully intend to work with it again. I think a new knitter could use it, as I don't find it takes any particular consideration.
The only "con" (and I don't think of it that way) is that I don't think I'd use it for a felting project - but there are plenty of yarns to use for felting and, given the next-to-skin softness of this yarn, I would rather use it for shawls, hats, scarves, and perhaps sweaters.

The color I purchased was very nice, but MUCH different from what I expected from the picture! I was a bit disappointed in the feel....it is soft, but no where near as soft as I had expected from a yarn with this much silk! The stitch definition is OK, but not great.

I haven't had a chance to work with it yet but this yarn is beautiful and soft. there are however some things to keep in mind about it. For one thing the colors won't always be exactly as you expect. I ordered too skeins of archangel and neither of them included the dark blue or olive green colors it's supposed to have along with the reds, yellows, and purples (also note the photos on this site don't give the best idea of the colors, if you look on MR. Yarn they have photos of full skeins to give you a better idea) While they're still beautiful, it wasn't quite what I wanted. My yarn also has a slight vinegary smell, like you sometimes get with clothes you order online. It's not that bad, and I'm sure it would come out with washing, but it's something to take note of.

Comments about Malabrigo Silky Merino:
Absolutely scrumptious! Love the colouring, which shifts cleanly, doesn't pool. It absolutely glides through your fingers. I'm allergic to wool, but this yarn I can even wear next to my face. I'm impatiently awaiting a couple of backordered colours to continue my jacket, but it's worth the wait!
