Beautiful for Lacework
This product was awesome for my most recent lacework scarf. I'm buying a second color for a lacework sweater.

I wove a large blanket with this yarn around December of 2009. It is not an overly strong yarn as a warp, I had a lot of breakage on the selvages while weaving, but I kind of expected that. At first the finished product was great, lovely drape, sheen, and softness. As the blanket has been used, however, the yarn has pilled like no other. I'm not talking normal pilling for wool either, these babies are giant. There are fuzzies the size of my pinky nail over the entire surface. I would not suggest this yarn for weaving.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/10 Merino Tencel (Colrain Lace):
It's merino, folks! So, don't apply it to heavy wear items, don't machine wash. When you weave, make sure your own tension and beat are even. Finding fault with this yarn (as in other comment reviews)for breakage and finish(I used 6 full cones of different colors) is impossible--I tried to break it, (couldn't!) zero issues on the loom (yardage, blankets, scarves, each a different sett and pattern), and I'm thrilled with final results.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/10 Merino Tencel (Colrain Lace):
I was excited when I got this yarn because the colors are lovely, but I have been very disappointed with how it weaves up. I made a set of twill scarves, similar to the recommended patterns, and at the recommended sett. The scarves are not pliant and feel more like suiting fabric. Unfortunately, the yarn is not abrasion resistant enough for suiting. This yarn is also unusually sensitive to beat and shows every variation, making an even pattern in a complex twill frustrating. I did not have breakage problems on the warp. It is definitely hand wash only.

I have used this yarn as a knit along yarn for socks, and with Rayon Boucle to make a skirt and top. If u use contrasting colors a beautiful marble effect.

I had never used a wool/tencel blend yarn before, and I am so pleased with my purchase! The yarn has great texture, shine, and the overall feel of it is superb. The colors are great, however the one color I bought "whipple blue" does appear to be more of a teal/green color than the color swatch pictured. I am still very happy with though! It is also a very "forgiving" yarn. When I first started knitting with it I messed up my pattern and had to rip rows upon rows out and the yarn didn't fall apart or untwist. I would recommend this yarn for any knitting/crochet project.

I'm submitting this review to up the score. It's not fair for it to be downgraded because someone didn't like the results when she machine-washed a yarn that clearly says "hand wash."

Lovely socks made. Machine waashed. Now kid sized. Argh.

I love this yarn. I just finished a crochet lace shawl and it is beautiful....I enjoyed every minute that I handled the yarn and am now ready to buy another color.
