Used this for a scarf with another yarn, beautiful unfolding of color that looks like a color wheel. I like the variegated thickness/thinness of the yarn as it adds to the texture of the scarf. It is perhaps not the softest yarn but I wouldn't call it scratchy.

I always have an issue with sock yarns where the thread is broken in production and then continued indiscriminately without any consideration for continuity of overall color design. I was disappointed to notice that one 100g skein makes easily a pair of socks, one green and one purple. The color design is so 'long', that you won't get two repeats out of one skein - which makes a difference if you are keen on symmetry. The only way around that would've been to purchase two skeins, but would I have gotten two of the same repeat? Probably not. Yes, the colors are gorgeous, but to my taste the texture is awful, harsh, spiney, and gauge of yarn inconsistent. You wind up with sloppy, droopy socks that need handwashing (now, seriously, how sensible is that?). This was my first and last experiment with the much revered Noro yarn, there are more consistent yarns with much more reliable production quality and at least equal if not better, color designs out there.

While called sock yarn, I would not user for socks as the weight is not consistent, but works we'll for wraps and shawls. Is especially good for working entralac patterns.

I made a poncho from the Vogue Issue 5 magazine. This yarn was perfect for the project because of the weight, colors and self stripping qualities

I love the colors in this yarn, but it is not as soft as I prefer. I used this yarn to make the Boxy Cardigan in the Crochet Noro book and the sweater looks fantastic. The yarn felt better to me after a couple of washings.

Comments about Noro Silk Garden Sock:

Using this yarn to make a garter stitch sideways sweater with short rows, alternating two contrasting colorways. Love the colors! My only complaint, and I think this is the nature of the yarn, but there are times when the ply of the yarn gets so thin that it becomes a very thin lace weight. The yarn is not very strong at that point, so I ended up having to break off those sections in some places and not knit them into the sweater. That made for a lot more ends to weave in. But the colors and the overall feel of the yarn make this well worth the effort.

Comments about Noro Silk Garden Sock:

This yarn twists coming out of the skein, making the knitting very slow because I had to unravel it often. Large blobs of unspun fibres, some woody bits, then real thin yarn - very uneven. Colours were nice, but some places the yarn was joined by a knot, and the colours did not match. Very pricey for the quality. Also, very scratchy for garments worn next to the skin. I won't be using this again.

Comments about Noro Silk Garden Sock:

Used for a scarf, the color is great - EXCEPT where the join couples two very disparate colors. But at least is was only one join. The yarn is very scratchy considering the silk content. It kinks up on itself no matter how I try to dispense it. It's lovely but waaayyyy too much trouble for what I get. I've tried three different Noro yarns and they're all problematic. I won't be buying Noro ever again. Even though it's pretty. Did I mention that?
