This a a FUN yarn to work with!

We are now into our fourth afghan, each featuring multiple colors of BOKU - just gorgeous! This project has been taken on by me and my colleagues as a fundraiser for four years in a row. Each time, the afghan has turned out to look unlike any before, and equally stunning. We are rewarded with a wonderful response when the bidding happens!

As an aside, I fell in love with the unique self-striping BOKU features and chose to knit myself a skirt! "Knitting a skirt?!" my brother in-law questioned.... ABSOLUTELY!! It is one of my fun and funky go-to outfits and is fun show off!

Beautiful end product; yarn is fragile

This yarn makes beautiful colorways, but is coarse and very fragile. The yarn broke even while winding it by hand into a ball.

Beautiful colors, but prone to felting

      Comments about Plymouth Yarn Boku:

I am surprised at the amount of people commenting about the yarn breaking. I made two shawls and used a total of 24 skeins without a single problem. Maybe I just got lucky! The yarn is quite coarse, but softens a bit after gentle washing. However, I handwashed as recommended and my shawl came out somewhat felted which was very disappointing. Also, the colors were a bit muddied after washing.

Like other reviewers have said, there are bits of hay or something in the yarn that are quite uncomfortable to encounter. Be careful if you use this yarn.

As much as I enjoy the colors, I can't say I'd recommend this yarn or use it again.

        Comments about Plymouth Yarn Boku:

I've made a gorgeous wrap for my husband to wear when he's writing novels and feeling chilly. I've also made a few infinity scarves and hats. Everyone loved my gifts. It's not quite as soft as some of the more expensive yarns but even expensive yarns like Noro aren't always super soft. It's not scratchy and it looks lovely.

Not my favorite yarn. The hand isn't great, it's a little bit rough. Wouldn't work well for kids as it wouldn't -in my estimation-hold up to a lot of washing. Colors are great, though.

I used this in Kristin Omdahl's Infinity Wrap. It is warm but you wouldn't want this on your skin. It's coarse and is hard on your hands. It has other bits of stuff in it which makes it interesting. The long color changes are really nice - especially for this project. This was the recommended yarn. I would recommend it but with reservations.
