This yarn makes beautiful colorways, but is coarse and very fragile. The yarn broke even while winding it by hand into a ball.

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Boku:

I have not knitted the gloves for which I purchased this yarn. I am hoping that once knitted and gently washed the feel of the yarn will soften. I think for a hat the softness will not be as important. The variegation in the color is beautiful. I look forward to seeing this knitted up.

      Comments about Plymouth Yarn Boku:

I would not buy this yarn again as it is too difficult to work with. As it breaks so easily, I am not sure what i will make with it now.

Also, it is too rough to wear next to skin.

        Comments about Plymouth Yarn Boku:

I'm making a baby blanket with five different colors of Boku. I made a gauge swatch and washed it first because the yarn seemed way too scratchy. After washing, it is nice and soft and should be fine for the baby blanket. My only complaint is every so often I come across what feels like a wood splinter spun into the yarn. I'm being very cautious and removing these as I find them. When the blanket is finished and washed I will inspect it again and if necessary add another blanket to the gift to go between the baby and the knitted blanket.

The yarn is easy to knit with. It doesn't split, easy to increase and decrease and do short rows. I enjoyed knitting with Plymouth Boku.

I used this yarn for a sweater I thought it was so so. The yarn was dyed evenly and the colors were beautiful and the self striping feature is great. However, the yarn splits easily and it is not so soft.

                Comments about Plymouth Yarn Boku:

I was very disappointed with this yarn. I honestly never held such coarsely textured wool in my hands before and was completely baffled. Color was gorgeous and I hoped I would somehow "get used to it" but after 2 weeks of debating with myself I just had to return it. I could not imagine wearing any garment made of that fiber except perhaps making a very expensive and fancy, felted shoulder bag or pair of felted slippers. I was wondering if yarn would get softer after washing the garment with a lot of softener but did not want to risk spending $100 for a cardi just to throw it away.
After some research I found out that some lines of Noro have similar texture - I will definitely stay aways from those too ! Wish I read consumer reports before my purchase which I will do from now on without exception.
