Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I bought enough of this yarn 3 or 4 years ago to make a sweater for my daughter, never finished it, and am presently re-working into a different garment. The midnight heather blue color is still absolutely gorgeous, the wool is still soft and supple, and even after ripping out and re-knitting the stitches are nice and even. The only problem I have (and it isn't the yarn's fault) is that moths seem to like this yarn as much as I do! So be sure to keep your project safe from them or to rinse your skeins in eucalan or another moth-repellant product.
I love this yarn!

Made a sweater and a capelet from 8 skeins and have two left. Knit up beautifully and there is so much on a skein. Love to have more.

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I made a cabled sweater out of this over a year ago, and wear it often. It shows very little wear and tear, the cables have great pop and stitch definition. Very easy to care for, and I can't wait to use this yarn again!!! A very very nice yarn for the cost. Highly recommended :)

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I would say the North Hampton is more of a ligther worsted weight. Not a DK and not a worsted..in between. SO, it's hard to get gauge on a pattern, using a DK or a WW yarn.
Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I used this yarn to knit a colorwork sweater for my husband last year (he's a one-man stress-tester for yarn) and the sweater is wearing extremely well after a year of very frequent wear and washings. It's significantly more durable than other comparable wool yarns I've used for him in the past. I've also been extremely pleased with the consistency of colors across dye lots.
Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I really love Northampton. I am knitting men's hats for my charity project and it's a joy to work with. Great stitch definition; no knots; extremely soft for wool; great value. Northampton is definitely my "go-to" yarn.
Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I love Northampton. I am currently knitting my second large project with it: a queen sized intricately cabled blanket. Along with being the cheapest 100% wol yarn there is, is incredibly soft and shows off the cables beautifully. I especially love the way this yarn feels in natural, though I have worked with almost all the colors.
Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I hesitate to buy 'house brands', especially those spun in Latin America. Too little quality control and too much inconsistency. Not so with this light worsted. I ordered twenty skeins in Forest Green, mostly for the price and the color. Just to know what I was getting into, I rewound a skein - no knots, no fraying, no variations in the pigment and a smooth, even twist throughout. I did notice a couple of thin spots, but only because I was really looking for them. The difference was minimal and certainly not enough to negatively impact the finished fabric. I hand washed a swatch in cool water with a no-rinse cleanser and detected no bleeding, and it blocked beautifully. It is also surprisingly soft for a 'workhorse' wool - an added bonus. Whoever is producing this for Webs got it right; an exceptional value for this quality and selection.
