I am knitting the Bolero sweater. Of course, I checked my gauge before starting and discovered that I needed to go up to a size 11 needle to achieve 4 sts/inch. The pattern calls for a size ten. The yarn is very interesting - I have "wild fields" and the color combinations haven't repeated themselves and I'm already up to the armpits on the back! Very fun to knit with.

I should have known as soon as I opened the box that this yarn would never do for making an afghan. It was marked: "Will knit up as chunky for most patterns." It is thin, stringy, stretchy, and not all that soft. I was going to make an afghan with US13 needles, but I don't want to interact with this huge disapointment of a yarn for that long (and, since it really isn't chunky, I won't have enough for a decent size afghan). I even knit a swatch in US10 needles to see if it would work for something else. Even at US10, this yarn was a disappointment.

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:
I use this yarn to crochet sweaters, capes, shawls, & throws. Wonderful weight & love the rich colors. They wash well and seem to get softer each time they are washed. It doesn't matter if you have different dye lots as the colors are consistent enough to blend well. I wish you had more items in stock as I often find I want more & more! Please keep stocking this yarn as I can't find it local stores. Great customer service, too!

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:
the skeins were knotted together at the factory, which meant I had to cut the knots out, and join the yarn, when putting it into balls.
using the yarn for a weekend jacket, which is a snap to knit up, can hardly wait to see the finished product.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was prompt. Still disappointed that the skeins had knots in them from the factory.
(In all 5 skeins that I ordered, this happened).
Price was right (purchased on sale for $10.99).

I got this yarn as a request from a friend to make a headband. I was skeptical about the weight, but it turned out beautifully and I fell in love with the yarn. I went back and bought it in two other color schemes!

I made a top down sweater. The color changes look great and it has a nice drape which this item needs. This was sort of an experimental project, and the experiment was successful.

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:
I've used this for sweaters and scarves. It knits up fast and comes in the most delicious array of colors. Color shifts are appealing and make the knitting process an adventure. Colors shifts are not the predictable a,b,c,a,b,c with each being almost exactly the same length. Definitely a fun yarn to work with.

Comments about James C. Brett Marble Chunky:
There is a lot of yarn for your money in one skein of the Marble Chunky. I ordered 5 different colors, and should easily get 18 - 20 hats from it. Great value in these tough economic times.

I used this yarn to make high top slippers for my daughter and for my granddaughter. They loved them. They are soft yet held their shape and formed nice slippers. The price was good - make a nice gift.
