Supremely soft and so easy to care for, Homage from Shalimar Yarns is a dream to work with. Three plies of superwash merino, cashmere and silk yield a shiny, soft, deliciously squishy yarn you'll love for luxurious baby garments, delicate shawls, and the coziest socks. Homage has great drape and is available in deep, hand-painted colorways.
I bought 5 skeins of this from WEBS with absolutely no idea what I was going to make with it, but the color, Scarab, was irresistible. In real life the color is very unique and did not disappoint - a kind of deep sea green that I have never seen elsewhere. I finally found a great project on Ravelry (Jaina) and when I started knitting I noticed random short sections (an inch or 2) where there was extra silk. This might not bother some knitters, but the problem with silk is that it doesn't take up the dye as easily as the merino or cashmere, so I had almost white spots here and there. I'm pulling out the extra silk from these spots (it doesn't come away very easily, but I've managed to not damage the yarn noticeably) and am much happier with the more consistent color. That is the only negative thing I have to say about this yarn. Homage has a lovely light and soft hand, great stitch definition and is easy to knit with. The color from skein to skein is also quite consistent so I am not having to alternate skeins, but I am doing so for a few rows where I transition from skein to skein (just to be sure). I'm looking forward to wearing this cardigan when I finish it!
