Juniper Moon Farm Findley DK

Just like the lovely Findley, Juniper Moon Farm Findley DK is the same blend of 50% merino wool and 50% silk, only in a DK weight. Findley DK has a gentle shimmer from the silk, and is unimaginably soft - it's perfect for luxurious, drapey sweaters and accessories. Made in Italy

Limited to in-stock inventory.

Disappointed

By Color Wheely

from Atlanta , GA

Pros

  • Lovely feel
  • Nice drape

Cons

  • irregular

Best Uses

I was so delighted when Juniper Moon announced a Findlay DK weight. I have used Findlay Lace numerous times and love it. The Findlay DK looked nice in the ball, but it had more sheen than the Lace weight. It seems a bit thinner than DK weight and the pattern I used it for, the French Can Can shawl from Atelier Mademoiselle C, which calls for DK, came out considerably smaller than the pattern indicated (ok I know I should swatch). The big issue I had was that every single skein (I used 4) had a significant number of flaws - spots where the yarn was not twisted at all and considerably fatter than the rest of the yarn. It didn't look like a rustic textured yarn just a yarn with flaws. I would say there was a flaw in every 10 yard stretch. I was very disappointed and will not buy this yarn again.

    plump and soft

    By Hutchart

    from New York NY

    Pros

    • Drape Without Sag
    • Round Plied Yarn
    • Stitch definition
    • Super soft

    Cons

      Best Uses

      • Tops
      • Wraps

Most 50/50 merino and silk blends are soft but droopy and pilly. This yarn has wonderful body without losing the softness of the blend. It's got the same lovely sheen as the Findley lace and the colors are super saturated and glowing. I knit a sweater with it and loved every minute of working with this yarn.
