Mirasol's Illaris is 100% pure, glossy Pima cotton. "Illaris" is a Quechua word used to describe something that shines or radiates light, and this gorgeous plied cotton DK weight yarn fits the bill. In lustrous jewel tones, Illaris is perfect for cool and colorful summer garments and accessories. Spun in Peru.
You do have to be patient winding the yarn - do it on a large flat table and it won't tangle on itself. I'm making a sweater with open/ivy leaf pattern. The yarn knits beautifully and feels great. It is a very good garment yarn. If you're not an experienced knitter, you have to knit a bit slower to make sure that you catch all of the tiny threads in each stitch - but if you've knit enough, that's no problem. I'll use it again.

After 30+ years of knitting, I have never run across such a problem!!! Each hank was extremely difficult to wind into balls without tangling to such a degree that I wanted to throw it across the room. After 10 hanks, I'm giving myself a few days to calm down before I start knitting with it!

Merchant response: I'm so sorry for the trouble you had winding the yarn! Please contact us at email@example.com so we can help.
I bought it for a baby blanket, but it's too fine. I know it's dk, but it's thinner than other dks I have purchased. Beautiful beautiful yarn. Will try to find something to make for myself from it. Recommend for crochet lace tops -- super drape and shine. Could make something really special.
