I used Koromo to make a top designed by Irina Poulodnenko. Koromo is easy to work with, and worked well for this design. I just wish Noro wouldn't discontinue some of these yarns that are so yummy. My only real complaint would be that I had to splice more frequently than I care to because of the knots in the middle of the skeins. Noro yarns can be "knotty" - but Koromo is so beautiful, I can overlook that. The sweater washes by hand extremely well, and is easy against the skin, because of the cotton content.

        Yarn for scarf

I will make a simple scarf or hat and give it away. Someone might like these colors.

            Comments about Noro Koromo:

I bought this yarn to make a "summer sweater" featured in the Spring 2013 Noro Magazine. The yarn itself is beautiful and has great possibilities. It seems to have some of the best features of both Silk Garden and Taiyo--a bit of silky sheen plus cotton for softness. The colors are vibrant and clear but not as saturated as in Silk Garden. I enjoyed the experience of working with it.

However, I was making the #15 Multidirectional Cap Sleeve Top by Irina Poludnenko, using the exact same yarn in the exact same colorway, and I didn't get what they got. First of all, if you look at patterns for Koromo, they usually require a 4mm needle, which would be a light worsted or DK yarn. I found it to be thicker than that; in my opinion it is a true worsted-weight wool yarn that knits at 4.5 sts/in. on a 5mm needle. So even though I altered the pattern for a different gauge, it is still as heavy as any cool-weather sweater.

Second, using the same colorway (#1), I used about 7 skeins of the yarn, and I got way too much color, from bright orange to purple to cobalt blue to hot pink. While unpredictably bright multicolors might be great on a hat or scarf, they are too loud for a whole garment. I was not happy with the results.

So what I made ended up being hot, heavy, loud, and not true to color; however, I think the yarn has possibilities. It is not a warm-weather silk/cotton DK yarn, but a cool-weather aran wool blend. It could be substituted for Silk Garden or Kureyon. If someone has the right project in mind, it could be very beautiful in this yarn. As long as Webs has it on sale, I recommend grabbing it while you can. Its true beauty has yet to be revealed.

Love this yarn. Gorgeous colours, doesn't split when knitting and very few joins in a ball of yarn make this wonderful to use for the varied style beanies I knit. It's also fabulous for infinity scarves done on a larger needle and drapes beautifully.

I am using this yarn to make a light-weight throw. The variegation works into patterns that look "planned" but are not. I especially like the way the variegation is incorporated both as a dyed main strand but also in flecks of yarn that are spun into the main strand.
