Plymouth Yarn Linen Concerto

Linen Concerto from Plymouth Yarns is a shiny linen blend that's machine washable and dryable. This DK weight yarn has unique mixed texture, with shiny slubs twisted with tighter strands. The rayon, linen and cotton take dye differently so your finished fabric will have lovely depth of color. Linen Concerto is perfect for garments with lots of drape and shine. Made in Italy.

Nice yarn to knit with. Made the skirt shown in their ads. I love linen, both to knit with and the way it drapes when finished. This yarn does drape nicely. And it's reasonably priced! The downsides are: Color variances within dye lots which were pretty significant making it hard to match stiping; Have worn the skirt twice and it began stretching almost immediately. Also, in the final analysis, if you can afford Louet's Euroflax linen, it's a far superior product, in my opinion. I would recommend this yarn to others with the above reservations.

The feel of the yarn is luxurious, although is has a few knots as I am knitting five skirt panels (& balls) at once on my circulars. I am noticing the flaws first but the indigo/silver/off white pattern is gorgeous. The pattern called for 9 balls, I'm afraid I won't have enough yarn to complete the project.

Cons

  • Splits

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Linen Concerto:

I really like the finished product. So soft and comfortable for a larger weight yarn. The splitting was not much of a problem and I'd use this yarn again because it looks and feels wonderful when finished. I made a hooded cardigan and when my knitting friend saw how nice the yarn was, she planned to make the same.

    Linen Concerto

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Linen Concerto:

This is a great yarn to work with. I love the color and how it shimmers. Also love the way it changes texture slightly. Must take care not to split the yarn, but once I got the hang of it, it is not difficult (I am a new knitter). I am knitting a pattern from Vogue which will take a while and involves a complicated pattern. So far, so good!

    • Easy to wear comfortable

    Cons

    • Yarn Splits Rather Easily

    Best Uses

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Linen Concerto:

I am making an oversized sweater with simple lace motif with this yarn. I love the linen look and subtle shine. And I love the easy-care features: machine washable and dry able: what more could I ask.

The yarn does have a bit of a tendency to split, however, meaning that I have to be especially careful when working SSK's. Otherwise, I find it a very pleasant yarn to work with, and wouldn't hesitate to choose it for a future project.

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Linen Concerto:

The yarn has a lovely sheen an is a delight to handle. The ball has a tendency to become unwound and tangle. I probably should have started with the center strand instead. Either way I think the ball would have dintegrated into a puddle.
