I am knitting a shrug with this right now. I find it difficult to choose a varigated yarn that works well with a lace pattern, but this is beautiful!

I used this yarn to make a skirt with cables. The yarn shows off the pattern stitches and the skirt holds its shape without sagging. The fiber blend should wear well without pilling.

                Comments about Fibra Natura Oak:

This is my first time use of a merino silk linen blend. I ordered 'Brick'. My sweater is still on my needles, growing quickly. It is a joy to knit with. I don't think it is scratchy at all. I am combining it with Noro Haniwa, color #9. The heathered yarn goes well with the Noro colors. I do all the pattern work in this yarn on 4.5mm, and the Noro for stockinette stripes on 4mm. Very happy!

                  Comments about Fibra Natura Oak:

I am knitting a shawl for someone in the upper South (Memphis). This yarn is ideal. The linen and silk keep the wool from getting too warm. Had I used 100% wool, let alone alpaca, mohair, or some other fibers I could name, I'm afraid it would turn out too warm.

It would also be an ideal weight and fiber combination for overly air-conditioned offices.

I don't think the longer fibers the other reviewer talked about are a flaw. There are natural flax fibers in the yarn, and having knit with linen mixes before, they can have a bumpy-lumpy hand. Unlike some yarns I have used, where the finished product LOOKS lineny, the finished textile here is delightful, cool and supple. (I am knitting at a slightly loosened gauge, on 4.5 mm needles, and with a lace pattern that also has a K6P2 ribbing in it, as I want the shawl to easily pull and cuddle around the body. I don't know how it would perform at a tight gauge.

One final note: if you or your recipient is into the "I don't want anything scratchy at all" approach to yarn, this may not be the yarn for you. Linen improves the drape, but it makes the wool feel a little scratchier. However, if lanolin sensitivity and overheating are what are making you itch, the smaller proportion of wool, lighter weight, and natural cooling properties of the silk and linen might be just the thing you need.

Webs should consider adding something like it to their line for their Southern clientele.

                      Comments about Fibra Natura Oak:

Inividually I love the fibers in this yarn (merino wool, linen and silk) but I wasn't sure how they would work together. They make a rustic looking glisteny yarn that is wonderful to crochet. The wool keeps it from being too slippery and the linen and silk give it a nice sheen. Some of the longer fibers stick out so if you are looking for something absolutely smooth, this won't be for you. Having said that, the yarn itself is a very consistent size, not thick and thin. I chose earth tone colors. The highlights from the silk keep my crocheted item from looking dull. The solid colors are heathery and the multi that I got has fairly short color gradations.

I am using it for a Tunisian crochet project. The only negative I can come up with is that it can very occasionally be a little splitty if I don't insert my hook right, but this is not a consistent problem.

I want to buy more but I need to have another project in mind before adding to my stash!
